I scrounged around for something to make for lunch yesterday. Our fridge is slowly dwindling down because I haven't bought any groceries since we're leaving town tomorrow.
Tofu blocks it is! Just trying to get all the excess moisture off the tofu first..
tofu marinade of honey, soy sauce, chili powder, cayenne pepper, black pepper, sesame oil, and garlic powder.
the tofu turned out with a lovely soy sauce-y sweet coating.
with some green tea soba noodles sauteed with onions and soy sauce.
a delicious and healthy meal!
T made us breakfast this morning of scrambled eggs and frankfurters.
berry smoothie on the side.
After dropping off Noma, I stopped by Pret to pick up lunch. I was emotionally and physically spent! So tired after spending 2 hours on the tube. :( bye Noma!!
I love Pret sandwiches and their amazing artisan baguette bread. Very crunchy and delicious.
Time to prep for my Korean class today..

Ottolenghi
Patiently... waiting... for our food to arrive..
I'm thinking to myself.. can we just eat so we can go see Thor!!
Foods here!!
We went to Ottolenghi's in Islington. http://www.ottolenghi.co.uk/philosophy/
I chose three different kinds of salads and a main of salmon with pineapple salsa. Everything tasted very fresh, clean, and delicious. The salads were beet, asparagus and courgettes with truffle oil, and basmati rice with dill and pistachios. I felt so healthy just looking at the plate!
T ordered the smoked salmon w. scrambled eggs
Check out the color of the eggs. CRAZY yellow! They were delicious.
coffee financier cake
chocolate tea cake. The desserts were alright. I was pretty full so I wasn't too enthused about either one.
After lunch we saw Thor 3D. Chris Helmworth, Anthony Hopkins, Natalie Portman. Oh yes :-D I would definitely recommend it for any comic-action movie enthusiasts.
Dinner was the usual from Chop Chop Noodle Bar.
I can't believe I'm not going to see this little nugget for 12 days when I'm in the States. I can already feel the separation anxiety. :(
steak and cheese omelette for breakfast.
2 more days til the states. The countdown begins! Yippee!!

Merkato Islington
We finally ventured out of our flat last night to grab dinner in the outside world (we've literally spent all weekend in the house!). I guess our neighborhood has a high population of Ethiopian people because there are 3 restaurants within a 1 mile radius. The hubs wanted to go back to the one he tried with a friend last year because he thought it was better than the last one we had tried.
Poor Noms was not happy to be left alone. Check out my new Nikon camera pictures.. ha! Its actually not my camera. My battery is kaputz so I'm temporarily using the hubby's. He soNOT graciously lent me his for the time being. :-D
Different toppings on top of the Injera bread. I love this big platter of Injera bread. It's spongy in texture and sour in taste=very good!
Veggies: lentils, spinach, cauliflower, green beans
Chicken and an egg smothered in this delicious brown sauce. It looks sort of like sloppy joe mix but it definitely doesn't taste like it. I can't really describe the taste of Ethiopian food. It's a taste my mouth is not very familiar with. It's very good though.
tender chunks of lamb and onions in a very spicy sauce. You can also ask for it mild.
All scooped up by using the rolled up injera bread or your fingers. Delicious! I definitely preferred this restaurant over the first one I tried. We both agreed that the flavors of each dish were more distinct and tastier than the other restaurants muddled flavors.
Last night consisted of a CSI marathon. I'm now addicted to this show. Good thing I have like 10 plus seasons I can watch!
Breakfast this morning consisted of HBE.
Spread over toast with seeds and germ on top.
Time to get my Korean study on. I'm back to taking Korean II on Wednesday nights. I have A LOT to catch up on. Blergh.

Grillin
We've used our grill twice in a row this weekend. The weather is lovely this weekend so we thought it would be a perfect time to use our patio and charcoal grill.
Thank God I'm not in charge of lighting this thing.
We tossed zuchinni, peppers, and corgettes in olive oil, salt and pepper. Simple yet a delicious way to eat your vegetables.
Portobello mushrooms; a thick and meaty vegetable.
Rib-eye steaks marinated overnight in bottled Korean kalbi sauce.
Mushrooms marinated in soy
I don't know what these plants are doing out on our patio. I've kill two things in life: plants and fish! :(
Our patio is small but the sun hits it in all the right places :-D
I love grilled veggies. I could eat them all day!
Lightly grilled corn on the cob and hot dogs
Yuuuuuuuuuum. The steak was perfectly cooked and the overnight marinade made it taste so delicious! I didn't even need steak sauce. That's a first.
Off to go digest...
