Murano restaurant

Sweet potato fries:

Popped in these bad boys for 30 minutes at 200 C. Our oven gets SUPER hot
A yummy way to get your 5 a day. It was hard for me to chop up these bad boys since our knife is pretty dull at the moment. Other than that, my lunch was very quick to prepare.
I taught Zumba to my biggest class yesterday. I'm used to having less than 12 girls that it was quite a shock for me at first to have 30 plus! Also, there wasn't a mirror so I was facing the class; something I'm not used to since I've been teaching facing a mirror. :-P I'm still trying to get the hang of teaching but its been really enjoyable so far. Here's to hoping practice makes perfect.

Murano is located on Queen street near Green Park station. It's a Michelin star restaurant that specializes in upscale Italian food.

We were greeted with the most lovely truffle arancini balls. They were melt in your mouth delicious!

I definitely overdid myself on the bread. I was STARVING after Zumba. I must have momentarily forgotten that we ordered the tasting menu. Oops!
Italian meats

They presented most of our dishes covered like this and unveiled them at the same time. :)
Chick pea and salt cod fricassée, parsley purée
This was delicious but a bit too salty. I know it's supposed to be salt cod but I didn't think the salt should have overpowered everything as it did.
The parsley puree with the chick peas worked really nicely together. Yuuuum!!
Milanese risotto
a hearty and satisfying taste of risotto
Linguine with sardines, chilli, toasted breadcrumbs
I think I preferred this linguine over my risotto. The sardines gave the noodles a really balanced salted flavor.
Bresaola with apple and artichoke salad

Roasted duck breast, lemon cream, mustard fruits
We had 4 people order the veal but one person got the duck breast. I didn't try it but it looked good!
Fillet of veal, parmesan cream and mushroom garganelli
The veal was perfectly cooked and tasting really amazing w. the parmesan cream that I mistook for butter when it first came out :-D ha! The mushroom pasta was really good too.
Formaggio
3 different Italian cheeses: Taleggio, Bleu, and something else I don't remember. I had small bites of each because I was SO full and still waiting on dessert.
This spoon of honey was probably the most flavorful honey I've ever had. It had a very strong "honey" flavor - as if it had come straight from the bee hive maybe? hehe.

Gelato
It was more like sorbet rather than gelato. We had a bunch of different flavors to try: lemon, passion fruit/banana, hazelnut, cassis, and basil- basil was the most interesting flavor of them all but I personally liked the passionfruit/banana.

the end product reminded me of a painting palette with all these beautiful bright colors.
Warm walnut cake with milk ice cream
This dessert didn't really do anything for me. Either I was really full or it just sort of fell flat. I guess I expected a more creative dessert. I did really like the milk ice cream that had a layer of crunchy candied walnuts on the bottom. Gotta love the crunchy stuff!

Overall, I thought the dining experience was really good but I wasn't blown away by the food. Don't get me wrong, everything was delicious but it was missing a sort of flare that I expect from any Michelin star restaurant. I thought the service was excellent as was expected. I'm glad that we went and can finally cross that off our "must try" restaurant list.
