Welcome 2011!

Redhook is in the same chain as Milk and Honey and Giant Robot.

I guess we can clean up nice sometimes ;o)
Upon sitting, we were greeted with a peach bellini.
sweet and deliciously pink :)
I love cucumber infused water! Such a simple trick to sexify your drink :)
Redhook had a very contemporary and modern hip feel to it. I was digging the exposed brick walls and large windows
Apparently, my mom was digging the same.
We were the first to arrive in the dining area at 8 p.m. I was a little nervous that we were the only ones for dinner! Everyone else sauntered in at 9:30
Grey goose martini's with garnishes for four.
They gave us four different chilled glasses to choose from.
I chose the one with the "funky" leaves on them.
The martini's were pure alcohol. I should have known I like mine diiiirty.

El Diablo- cazadores tequila, cassis, lime, ginger, soda. My favorite drink at these establishments
Nothing better than a freshly baked baguette with butta.
West Mersea Native & Maldon Rock Oysters with shallot vinaigrette for slurping.
My mom must close her eyes to truly savor the experience of her oyster. Bah! Or I just keep snapping her picture with her eyes closed.
My favorite course of the night: beef carpaccio with an asian style sesame dressing. Simple yet very tasty.

Baked Dover Sole fillet with a tarragon, parsley and peccorino crust. Dover sole isn't particularly that great but the crust and grilled lobster n smoked eel sauce made the dish enjoyable.
Fillet of Red Angus beef with chunky potato chips. The beef was slightly overcooked but the potatoes and peppercorn sauce helped win me over.

Getting the champagne ready for midnight.

Cheers to the New Year 2011!!
I swear my clock said 12:02 when Redhook started counting down to midnight.
Either way, it was a very casual midnight clock strike celebration.
I'm surprised both of them made it to midnight!! Barely :)
Dark chocolate fondant cake with cherry ice cream and cherries soaked in alcohol. Weeewooo. The cherry ice cream was the star of the plate.

We didn't stay out much longer past midnight but I'm still exhausted this morning. Time to get the day started. Welcome 2011!!
