Viajante

Let me tell you about last night: We went to Viajante- a Michelin star restaurant in Bethnal Green. We chose to do the 6 course tasting menu. It is a blind tasting menu aka we had no idea what we were going to be served that night. It was such a great treat on a rainy Sunday night. The food was delicious and the service was really impeccable. Everyone was really friendly and attentive but not in a bothersome way.

Duck ham and Thai explosion II. The Thai explosion was chicken pate with a chicken skin layer on the outside. It's like a party in your mouth and seriously, who wouldn't want to come?! :-D

I loved the presentation of all our dishes- Everything was so visually appealing!
lobster roe, creme fraiche & lemon
I think we all agreed that the creme fraiche didn't really meld well with the lobster roe- it was a bit too overpowering. I've never had lobster roe but it was pretty good!
A great twist on bread and butter. We had two different kinds of butter and forgive me I forgot what they were but it was creamy and delicious!
Osaka punch-Marinated pineapple chunks, Black Sesame seed infused Pisco, fresh lime and bubbled with champagne
drink on fire

Fresh cheese with peas and flowers
Squid with ink, pickled radishes, and sea lettuce
The squid noodles reminded me of these asian noodles that are thin, white, and have a very mild flavor. It wasn't chewy at all and quite pleasing to eat with the sea lettuce.
White, green, and while asparagus with milk shin
Lots of different asparagus pieces in a gel like soup
the textures were very playful
Leek heart with lobster and leek consomme
leeks prepared multiple ways. It was quite tasty
the broth felt very asian inspired- the flavor was subtle and let the lobster and leek flavors come through
Cod and potatoes with egg yolk and saffron
Everything in this dish was very satisfying and warm. The cod and egg yolk were cooked to perfection and felt almost hearty.
Iberico pork with cereals, hot potato gel and clams
The pork belly was very tender and delicious but pretty fatty. I felt a little icky eating all of it but *of course* I couldn't let one bite go to waste :)
Frozen maple with shiso and green apple
Omg!  I can still taste this in my mouth. It was SUPER good! I loved the cold and silky combination of icy green apple flakes and creamy pannacotta.
white chocolate with grapefruit and lemon
This dessert was amazing and a wonderful almost ending (aside from the Petit Fours that I had a feeling were coming after). The white chocolate was super fluffy and sweet but the sourness of the grapefruit cut out some of the sweet- perfectly balanced!
chocolate mushroom truffles
The truffles were so good! Surprisingly, chocolate + mushrooms work. The filling of the chocolate truffle was definitely mushroom but it wasn't overpowering and you still had a chocolate aftertaste. Yum!
vanilla creme
What an amazing meal with even better company :) So fun!
