Lunch: Why mess with a good thing? I only made slight variations to my chicken tortilla wraps. I sauteed some onions and topped with beets and chive n onion cottage cheese.
Cottage cheese is a good low fat substitute to regular full fat cheese. I think it almost tastes better than regular cheese in some instances. I also added in some sauteed spinach along w. the onions for more of a vegetable centered lunch.
a messy but very healthy and hearty wrap.
Dinner: http://www.thewhiteswanlondon.com/
started off with some tomato bread. hot outta da oven.
My appetizer was scallops with cauliflower puree and glazed baby onions. Savory and delish!
Oxtail ravioli with swiss chard, shallot rings, and onion puree. The broth was very slurpable :)
Braised veal shin, orzo, saffron, and gremolata. I didn't particular think this dish was anything special. I felt like I could make it myself (minus the very tender veal). Such a disappointment after my wonderful starter.
Wild boar pie with cabbage on the side. I thought the cabbage was a bit out of place. The pie didn't really have much inside besides the meat. It should have had some sort of vegetable to make it more hearty.
Curly kale and mashed potatoes for sides.
the dessert was the highlight of the meal. Bread pudding with orange marmalade ice cream. The bread was moist and syrupy.
I ended the night with new reading material: Eat, Pray, Love. I've seen the movie but I heard the book was so much better. I'm just a few pages in but I can already tell it's going to be hard to put down.
Afternoon agenda: zumba & belly dance classes then its salsa night to support a great cause of anti-slavery. A small step in the right direction.
