Tips

A whole lotta running tips. I wish the weather wasn't getting crappy here in London so I could actually put these tips to use. I'm afraid my running days outside are numbered.

Afternoon snack:
Fage greek yogurt, strawberry slices, goji berries, cacao nibs, almonds, and some organic honey.  I believe wholeheartedly in eating 5 times a day. I was afraid at first that I would gain weight but honestly, I attribute it to how I've managed to stay slim. It's not a fluke people! You don't have to starve yourself to get the body you want. On a good day, my meals typically go like this: Breakfast, Lunch, Snack, Dinner, Dessert.

Dinner:
Baked salmon seasoned w. EVOO, salt, pepper, lemon juice, garlic, and cayenne pepper. Lots of veggies to boot. I normally avoid ordering salmon at restaurants since it's a fish you can make so easily and on the cheap at home. Tasty fish tho.

I found an easy side dish substitute at the grocery store today for my "lazy days".
A couple of minutes in the microwave and you can have steamed brown rice on your plate! I don't normally advocate microwaveable rice but I figure its better than nothing.

Dessert:
Some dark choco and some dates! . I haven't ever considered eating dried fruits other than apricots and cranberries but I think I should start eating more dates. Not only are they small, portable and satisfy my sweet tooth; they are also low in calories and help boost energy levels. Any foods that give me a natural boost are all good in my book!

Bt dubs, my nails are in dire need of a manicure. |Good thing I booked an appointment for tomorrow.
O the joys of being woman :)

My body is so sore and in dire need of lots of rest. I haven't been getting quality sleep since I've been back. I feel like I wake up every hour. Last night for example, I woke up at 3 a.m. and tossed and turned til about 5 a.m. I blame it on the a a a a a...alcohol. no jk! I blame it on the jet lag. Curse you Chicago time!!

You spin me right round

Workout: Run to gym. Go to Body combat class. Sweat a ton. Run back home. I believe my forerunner miscalculated my mileage due to satellite signal problems. It should be more like 2 miles.

Lunch:
I've never used one of these things before. What a simple concept. You place your veggies in the blue container, rinse in sink, place the blue container in the bigger plastic container, close the lid, and spin: Voila! No more soggy or wet spinach. I love it.

Baked chicken seasoned w. EVOO, salt pepper, sauteed spinach, red onions, and beets
Simple yet satisfying lunch!

Eek.. It's already 3 p.m. and I feel like I haven't gotten much accomplished. I hate that feeling. Time to study for my French lesson tomorrow.

Peace out homies.

Bad news Bears!!

Seattle Seahawks 23 - Chicago Bears 20

I hate waking up to bad news. At least my college football team is doing better!

Word.

Dinner last night:
T made Keralan-style baked fish. I already forgot what fish he used. EEEP!! The Gordon Ramsey recipe called for Tilapia. I don't believe that was the fish he used. Anyways. T'was spiceeey. Like mouth on fire but can't stop eating good. Those red disks are beets. What a pretty color beets are. Too bad they stain anything they touch.
Tuna nicoise salad with asparagus instead of green beans. A little heavy on the salt but delish nonetheless.

Didn't take me long to use my new mixer. Nestle toll house recipe in da house!!

I'm trying to get used to our new oven temperature settings. I didn't burn the cookies but I didn't achieve the right cookie color. At least they still tasted buttery and artery clogging good ;)

My B fast this morning:
Wholewheat toast with an egg and flaxseeds (gotta get those Omega-3's!!) on top. The banana wasn't that appetizing even with that mushy piece, it still didn't taste ripe enough. O well!!

New reading material:
New diet book!! I'm such a dork. I don't like prescribing to a strict diet but I like reading diet books. I got this one in Hawaii at a used bookstore for 7 dollars. You can't really beat that price. Especially for a health/nutrition book. Maybe it's time to get back on the fitness track w. a flatter belly!

Song of the morning: The Four Tops "I can't help myself (Sugar pie honey bunch)"- Good thing there is no one in my flat right now!!
