Run as fast as the wind...

Actually.. it is quite hard to run when the wind is blowing you backwards. I tried but ultimately couldn't stomach more than 20 some odd minutes.
Lunch: Why mess with a good thing? I only made slight variations to my chicken tortilla wraps. I sauteed some onions and topped with beets and chive n onion cottage cheese.
Cottage cheese is a good low fat substitute to regular full fat cheese. I think it almost tastes better than regular cheese in some instances.
I also added in some sauteed spinach along w. the onions for more of a vegetable centered lunch.
a messy but very healthy and hearty wrap.

Dinner: http://www.thewhiteswanlondon.com/
started off with some tomato bread. hot outta da oven.
My appetizer was scallops with cauliflower puree and glazed baby onions. Savory and delish!
Oxtail ravioli with swiss chard, shallot rings, and onion puree. The broth was very slurpable :)
Braised veal shin, orzo, saffron, and gremolata. I didn't particular think this dish was anything special. I felt like I could make it myself (minus the very tender veal). Such a disappointment after my wonderful starter.
Wild boar pie with cabbage on the side. I thought the cabbage was a bit out of place. The pie didn't really have much inside besides the meat. It should have had some sort of vegetable to make it more hearty.

Curly kale and mashed potatoes for sides.

the dessert was the highlight of the meal. Bread pudding with orange marmalade ice cream. The bread was moist and syrupy.
I ended the night with new reading material: Eat, Pray, Love. I've seen the movie but I heard the book was so much better. I'm just a few pages in but I can already tell it's going to be hard to put down.
Afternoon agenda: zumba & belly dance classes then its salsa night to support a great cause of anti-slavery. A small step in the right direction.

Lady A

Breakfast yesterday consisted of two sunny side up eggs on whole wheat toast.

Lunch:
Quinoa is such an easy grain to make. Use 2 parts water to 1 part quinoa, boil, and simmer for 10 minutes.
It has a crunchy and slight nutty taste to it. It's a nice variation from the usual brown rice.

I sauteed some peppers with some store bought packaged chicken.
Whole wheat tortillas with pepper/chix mix, cottage cheese, quinoa, and siracha.

I also had it for dinner. Part deux. YUM!
Snack time: Uni to the far left (HEAVEN!!!!), leftover pajun to the top right, scallop with spicy mayo and a maki sushi bite with some kimchee on the side. Oh man, I'm so Korean!!
Smoothie breakfast this morning before I get my study on...
Into the Vitamix:
  • spinach
  • activia strawberry/vanilla yogurt
  • ice cubes
  • frozen berries
  • banana
  • agave nectar
  • skim milk
  • toppings: cereal, muesli, raisins, dark chocolate chips, sunflower seeds

Birthday Feast

T ran around town to pick up all my favorite asian foods. Korean and Japanese mix. Soondubuchigae with some pickled radish.

O Kimchi. I've missed you!!
Chicken teriyaki. The skin on this chicken was still perfectly crispy. There was a nice balance of teriyaki sauce with sweet onions and rice. Yuuuumm!!
Bi bim bap
Chirashi
Vegan peanut butter chocolate cake and vegan chocolate block with vienetta ice cream for dessert. Both the desserts were very rich but my favorite was the peanut butter cake. PB & Chocolate is such a magical combination!

I went to PUNCH this afternoon.http://www.virginactive.co.uk/Content/PressRoom/Punch.aspx . It's a new Virgin Active workout class that involves using a combination of pads and boxing glove exercises with floor body weight circuits. It reminded me how much I love kicking ass in the gym and sweating buckets! :o) :o)

After workout lunch @ the Star of Kings, a local pub just around the corner.
http://starofkings.co.uk/
The pub is quite cozy and kinda retro feeling.

Pastrami sandwich. A decent, healthy and fresh tasting sandwich considering pastrami isn't the healthiest of deli meats.
Tuna Nicoise, a good lunch special deal for £5!
Hot out of the fryer, triple cut chunky chips with ketchup and mayo.
Nicely layered sandwich on crusty, chewy bread.
White chocolate covered oreo's for dessert.

Song of the day: Gardi "Quien Te Digo"
