Wine in the afternoon makes me sleeeeepy!

My body combat class this morning was amaaazing as usual. My instructor is one badass chick. I can tell she has some martial arts experience because of her kicking and punching techniques. I assure you she's not just aimlessly punching in the air!

After class, I was ready for lunch. I really wanted to sit outside because the sun finally reared its pretty face. There is a quaint outdoor area with a few restaurant options near where we live called Battersea Square.
Even the sun wanted to shine on the menu!
We went to a Taste London restaurant called Rivera. Taste London is a discount card that gives you either a 50% discount off your total bill or a 2 for l on everything but alcohol.
Drinks:
The house white wine. When in the mood for something light, refreshing and on the cheap, we always order the house. I very rarely turn my nose up at a restaurant's house wines.

Carbo-licious garlic bread w. mozzerella cheese. Gooey and warm!

Their spin on prawn cocktail with a huge avocado (gotta eat those healthy fats)

Grilled sardine salad (Superfood alert!) I find sardines hard to eat. I understand the bones are digestible but it is not a very pleasant eating experience for me. I will have to find another way to get these healthy buggers into my diet.

Yes.. Those were only the appetizers. This girl can eat if you had any doubts! I had the vegetarian pizza.  I could only stomach two slices (2 large slices) because of all the appetizers we ordered.
His: Veal Milanese

After lunch, I made an executive decision to have a lazy Saturday afternoon (can you blame me after all that food?!) and skip the rugby match. I decided my book and bed was calling my name instead. Needless to say, the nap won over my book. Getting up early every morning takes its toll sometimes. My body was saying "SLEEEEEEEP".

Song of the day: Little Big Town "Bring it on home to me"

New reading material. Oh yes.

I feel it

My arm muscles are getting bigger! ha.

Breakfast:
Peanut butter jelly time. Laughing cow cheese with honey. I've never tried the cheese/honey combo on bread before but it's just as good :)

Hopefully I won't regret this decision during my kickboxing class!

Today's agenda:
My first rugby game!! I can't wait.. I love contact sports.

Jelly

This morning was a good lesson in weight lifting. T showed me a variety of exercises to target my bicep and tricep muscles. Boy, did I feel the burn!!
My arms are going to feel like jelly tomorrow.. I can already tell :) All throughout my strength training workout, I felt like I had ants in my pants. I was itching to do some cardio so I ran for 30 minutes afterwards.

Lunch:
We stopped at a Korean restaurant for lunch. You'll find this seafood pancake appetizer (Pajun) at most Korean restaurants. When done right, it is slightly crispy on the edges and warm on the inside with shrimp, clams, squid, and green onions.  It comes with a soy sauce dipping sauce. Drool!!

Main dish:  Soon du bu chigae but I forgot to take a picture of it due to my over eagerness! Here is what it looked like:
It's a spicy stew with tofu, seafood (usually clams, shrimp, sometime mussels), and an egg that usually cooks on top because it is SUPER hot! My favorite Korean comfort food.

Dessert:

It's a bank holiday in London this weekend. No work on Monday!!

Fitness First

I'm trekking into the city to go to the gym with T today. He'll be teaching me how to do different exercises for my arms. Take me to the gun show please!!
I thought I'd be a traitor and sport a Fitness First bag- sorry Virgin Active!! Besides, I have too much darn stuff to carry for my usual sporty pink gym bag.
Cute though huh? Must have right accessories for the gym to make the experience more pleasant :)
 1.) Towel
2.) Shoes
3.) Clothes
4.) Make-up
5.) Lotion, etc..

It's another rainy day here in London. T.G.I.F?? Blergh.

Sick?

My zumba instructor cancelled sick at the last minute!! Little does she know I take a 30 minute bus ride to Wandsworth to take her class. Grrr... what a disappointment but not nearly a shock. She was 15 minutes late to the first zumba class she caught. I dislike instructor's that stroll in whenever they feel like it, being disrespectful of everyone's time. I digress.. I'm happy to say that my 25 minute powerplate class was a success as usual AND I was able to run nearly 7 miles, a personal best so far!

After my workouts, I picked this up to try:
Lucozade sport lite summer berries flavor only containing 50 calories for a boost of energy and re-hydration. I prolly should have drank it during my run but o well!! It was tasty.

Moving day is drawing near ladies and gents. Mucho boxes everywhere!
Packing isn't nearly as bad as I thought. Dare I say it's almost therapeutic?

Sustenance:
All that running made me a hungry hungry HIPPO!!! I can't get enough of my greens. Mild obsession.

Superfood: Oranges.
Reading about this superfood reminded me how important it is to eat a serving daily of this stuff or its sidekicks such as lemon, white/pink grapefruit, kumquats, tangerines, and limes. I mainly thought of oranges as getting my Vitamin C intake but the book states that it can be a preventative measure against cancer, stroke, diabetes and other health ailments. They recommend eating whole fruits generally but you can use supplements as well.

Some extra tid bits-  It's better for you to drink OJ with the pulp instead of without (oops, I always preferred it without!). The peel of citrus fruits also has health benefits so zesting them onto dishes not only makes it taste better but its also doing your body good.

Song of the day: Marc Anthony & Jennifer Lopez "No me ames". Such a beautiful salsa song!

Bring it on home to me

Today is a JIF kind of day!
I try not to eat regular peanut butter anymore (has additional salt, sugar, and additives I can do without) but it's a cold and gloomy day here in London so that is what I decided to have. Donde esta el sol!? Yo no se :(

At least my nails look pretty. Look ma! Pink nail polish

Up next: Powerplate and Zumba
I woke up sore today from yesterdays workout. I haven't been sore in a while. Yay go Roxy!

Random article: Sad. Hope she can pick herself up after that Tiger mess.

Surf's up

Today's Roxy beach body workout involved 30 minutes of circuit training using our own body weight, a bosu ball, swiss ball, and this fun toy.
It's called a Vipr and it is weighted. You can do exercises with it like squats and lunges for an additional strength training workout.

We ended our training with a little bit of yoga. I've never done yoga before but I can tell from the few moves we did that I would probably really enjoy it. I guess that's a story for another day!

Afterwards, I was in the mood to sweat some more so I ran about 4 miles. I was skeptical that I would actually enjoy running on a treadmill as opposed to being outside but surprisingly, it was enjoyable. Easier on my knees and hips because apparently I'm a grandma!

Lunch was more of the same except I had some wild salmon and sauteed kale/spinach.
I quickly removed the green onions on top of the sweet potato and put it on the salmon. Silly mistake!

Cold dark choco for dessert. Mmm..

Song of the day: Teddy Geiger "For you I will"
