Hillsong

We went over to T's moms house and were met by a wonderful and delicious spread. Check out all this amazing food!
Breaded tilapia with rice and pinenuts and salad
I ate to my hearts content :)
Olives and pickled radish
Plate of sweets
Candied almonds- I snuck a  few. I couldn't really taste the almond but I loved the crunchiness of the candy coating.

We called it a lazy Saturday night with some episodes of Modern Family and Top Chef
My breakfast this morning of decaf coffee and crumpets. I've given up coffee because I've become to dependant on caffeine. I used to have 3 cups in the morning and a red bull or some sort of energy pick me up in the afternoon. NO GOOD! It's been tough switching to decaf but I'm actually very surprised at how much easier it is than I thought it was going to be. I did have a couple days of headaches but I'm not as lethargic and dead to the world as I would have thought. Yippee!!
I may be slightly obsessed w. crumpets now :)

We went to a Hillsong morning service today and then went out to lunch.

Pomegranate lemonade. Finally! A restaurant that serves something flavorful other than water. Yummy
Falafel- fried chickpea balls with a tangy yogurt based sauce.
Shifa- sort of pizza like dough with minced lamb, onion, tomato, and pomegranate molasses.
Blurry picture of schwarma hummus :( I only had my phone to take pictures!
phyllo pastry filled with spinach. The dough should have been a bit more crispier and the filling more predominant. It was sort of a mushy mess.

Mixed grill platter
It was a very delicious lunch :)

Time to celebrate another birthday dinner!!

The Lincoln Lawyer

healthy snacking of cottage cheese, dried fruits, and cashews.
Lunch was tomato basil soup with a turkey pita sandwich and roasted potatoes on the side with lots n lots of ketchup :-D
We went out to dinner last night at a cute little French restaurant. The ambience was dimly lit and romantic.

We started the dinner w. some bread and butter. I know the butter was packaged but it was salty and delicious!
My grilled calamari appetizer with rocket leaves and tomatoes. Simple and very tasty!
T's fried Camembert cheese with sweet jelly
I was craving a good steak w. peppercorn sauce. The steak was very tender and flavorful. Of course the chips were crispy and amaaaazing!
T had the ribeye and roasted potatoes.
Dinner wouldn't be complete without a crepe with chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream. The crepe was a bit too stringy and doughy but we still ate it all up :-D

After dinner we saw The Lincoln Lawyer:
Marisa Tomei, Matthew McConaughy, Ryan Phillippe, John Leguizamo, and Josh Lucas. I couldn't have asked for a better thriller with an all star cast. MMM mmm!!

Breakfast fuel this morning:
Citrus fruits=vitamin C

Shallots and mushrooms omelette on top of half a whole grain bagel.
I also tried crumpets for the first time EVER! I didn't actually realize the phrase "tea and crumpets" actually referred to an actual crumpet. I thought it just meant a biscuit or something! Crumpets are like doughier versions of an english muffin and a lot tastier. It takes on the flavor of what you put on it so we put on butter and strawberry jam. Yummy!

Afternoon agenda: some family time and relaxation. Happy Saturday!!

Hummus

My rando lunch of pita bread smeared in red pepper hummus with chicken strips, cottage cheese, crisps, and some leftover spinach.
My pita was overflowing with spinach! Leafy greens=antioxidants=vitamins+minerals :)
Mexican steak bowl for dinner
lots of pinto, black beans, shredded steak, lettuce, rice, tomatoes, salsa, and lots of yumminess!!
After dinner we caught up on some Top Chef DC and Modern Family. Modern family is such a funny show. So glad we got the recommendation to watch it. I forgot how much I miss comedy television!
We've run out of bread at the house so I had some pita w. hummus and scrambeled eggs for breakfast.

Back to Business

We met a friend for dinner that was in town on business from Japan.
Yum! I haven't had fresh baguettes w. butter in a while :)
it also came with some black olive tapenade that was delicious.
I ordered the french onion soup as my starter. They sort of overdid it on the cheese but the broth and onions were tasty!
T's calamari w. tartar dipping sauce.
My main was duck confit on a bed of lentils and mushrooms. The duck was nicely cooked and very tender.
T's lamb shank with carrot mash.
I figured since we were in the Covent Garden area that it was only appropriate to pick up some gelato. pistachio and strawberry flavor. Mmmm!

T picked me up some Korean food for lunch yesterday @ Seoul Garden
seafood pajun
Kimbap- korean version of sushi without the raw fish.
vegetarian bibimbap
It's a piggy creme filled pastry. Cute!!
Last night's random dinner of veggies, salmon, and spaghetti

I know my breakfast does NOT look appetizing but at least it tasted good :) Scrambled eggs with sauteed mushrooms and a wholegrain pita on the side.

Agenda: YMCA business plan and relax!

Life as I know it

Another breakfast egg bagel sandwich with hot sauce and ketchup :-D :-D

I surprised myself and went to the gym to do some weights. I haven't been to the gym in maybe 2 months? I'm not sure if I should be calling myself a PT. ha! It felt good to be back :)
Workout today was a focus on chest and back. I did 3 sets of 8-10 reps for each exercise
  • two arm row
  • incline chest press
  • straight arm pulldown
  • flat bench barbell press
  • one arm row
  • incline dumbbell fly
Lunch was @ Tohbang, a Korean restaurant near T's work on Clerkenwell.
Everything we ordered was suprisingly very good. Nothing hits the comfort food spot like some tasty Korean food.

Time to relax :)
