Isn't that too much food?

Workout this morning:
3 sets of 15 reps on each exercise. My arms will be dead tomorrow. Guaranteed.
  • Dumbbell curl
  • Lying dummbell extension
  • Hammer curl
  • Overhead dumbbell extension
  • Reverse curl
  • Bench dip
  • Dumbbell shoulder press
  • Dumbbell lateral raise
I can definitely see the progress from when I first started lifting to now. I am developing a nice tone in my shoulders, back, and arms. I feel so strong and empowered!!

Today's smoothie might have been the best tasting one since I've started using the Vitamix.
Into the power blender:
1/2 cup of yogurt, 1/2 an apple-seeds and all its glory
big handful of spinach
1/2 cup frozen berries
cup of unsweetened soy milk
a heaping sqeeze of agave necter- provided the sweetness I've been missing in all my previous smoothies
I dug out this long lost treasure from our pantry
I loved this Muesli on top. YUMMMOOO!! I'm obsessed w. anything cinnamon these days!
Afternoon movie time:
Would highly recommend. Sort of a tear jerker. Or maybe I'm just a sap. I know I've mentioned this before but love love LOVE Mark Ruffallo!!

Dinnertime:
http://www.akidemae.com/
Potato salad
Chicken yakitori
warm potatoes and beef
Miso soup but with onions instead of tofu or seaweed :( BOOO!!
Some sort of pickled vegetable I think?
VERY fresh sashimi.
my own mini bottle of wine? Why yes please!
Sweet egg- cold but delicious
Fresh sushi
Tempura- good balance of tempura and veggie
Anago pressed sushi roll and scallop nigiri sushi
UNI BOWL!!
Uni is the most unique tasting dish I've ever had. It's creamy, earthy, musty, a bit strange, and insanely delicious all at the same time. IS this even possible? When I first tried it, I thought it tasted like a dirty room. HA!
Tonkatsu. Very nicely fried and crispy. The pork was a little bit too chewy but it's fried dude. Enuff said.
Yellowtail cheeks
By far the scariest looking thing to arrive on our table. I for sure thought it would eat me before I even touched it. Pretty tasty if you can get past the actual fish head.
this definitely does NOT count as dessert.
BUT THIS SURE DOES!!
The apple cake was deliciously cinnamony too.
Yea I said it. IT'S CINNAMONY. I'm allowed to make up words dontcha know?
The strawberry cheesecake haagan dazs flavor is a must try. There are actual graham cracker bites in the ice cream. O.M.FRIGGIN.G. SO GOOD!

I'm not sure if I'm going to read my book or pass out on the bed.

Food coma for reals.

With Halloween right around the corner..

Candy pop quiz!

Gee.. I'm going to miss seeing all the kids in their cute costumes going trick or treating this year.
Snoopy wishes everyone A HAPPY HALLOWEEN WEEKEND!
My legs were SO sore yesterday from the previous day's workout that I could barely walk up and down stairs. When my body is sore, I tend to need a lot more food.

Snack yesterday: Cinnamon raisin bagel w. laughing cow cheese and honey
Will not be buying these bagels again. There were no plump raisins in any bite and you could barely taste the cinnamon. Blergh.

Dinnertime!
http://www.kitchinn1.co.uk/
Mediocre food but what can really expect from a buffet style dinner.
Chaana masala, olives, veggies, indian lamb, chix, cous cous
First plate
Randoms: sweet n sour chix, pickled cabbage, tomatoes n onions, some indian lamb, chix wings, thai veg green curry, veggies
Second plate
Apricots were my favorite
Momma's huuuuungry!!
the rice pudding and chocolate cake were exceptionally good
I'm not really a momma but I sure can eat!
I take it back. I'm a momma to this lil furry one.

Quick snack this morning and I'm outta here for my arms workout.

Back to Basics

Workout today
3 sets of 15 reps for each exercise
a.) Two arm row
b.) Incline dumbbell press

a.) Seated low pulley row
b.) Push up

a.) Wide grip pull down
b.) Chest press machine

a.) Upright row
b.) Calf raises on leg press machine

Post workout smoothie:
Things did not turn out exactly the way I had envisioned.
Into the vitamix:
  • scoop of protein powder
  • handful of Spinach (bad choice since I already put in a scoop of Life's Greens. There's only so much greenery needed!
  • Half a banana
  • Coconut pieces
  • frozen berries and handful of fresh strawberries
  • ice
  • water
  • soy milk

I'm not sure if the peel of the coconut is what made it taste grainy
I ended up with WAY more than I needed. Plus, it tasted too grainy and "healthy". I'll use less ingredients next time. Guess I got a little too greedy.

Lunch:
Another Food Network personality Ina Garten. She's the cat's meow
I decided to do things a bit backwards today and have dinner for lunch. Not a bad idea.
I made a modified version of this recipe.
my potato has spots!
Simple ingredients: EVOO, salt, pepper, and garlic
Roasted potatoes, sweet potato, and carrots.
Mincing garlic is my least favorite part of this whole process.
Thankfully we had this on hand from our party last Saturday. Guess what's also included in the Antipasti Selection!?
I might have snuck in a piece just to make sure it tasted aiight
Prosciutto!! Just what the recipe calls for :) Is it my lucky day or what!
Into the roasting oven for 15 mins
Rosemary lemon butter melted on top

The prosciutto turned crispy and provided a nice salty contrast to the flakiness of the fish
Very simple yet delicious. You can really enjoy the taste of the vegetables because you don't overdue it on the seasonings. Yum. I'll be roasting more vegetables in the future.

Dessert:
And I seriously wonder why I'm not a size 4

Body art

What to do. What to do. With leftover butternut squash.
Roast it obviously!
Give it a good coat in EVOO, salt, pepper, and roast for 30 minutes.
I mashed half the batch so I can make butternut squash pancakes one of these days.

Lunch: Salmon, squash, and a side of sriracha swirled jasmine rice. I promise it tasted better than it looks. Looks like a bloody random mess!
I sprinkled some cinnamon and poured some maple syrup on top of the squash. Brings out the sweetness of the veg. YUM
Halloween is coming up! Any ideas for costumes? I think T and I are going as bikers. Perfect time for a new tattoo you say? Why yes, I was thinking the same thing! :o) I'm seriously debating about getting this done (pending authorization from the hubby)

I told myself I wouldn't get a tattoo until I found inspiration for another one. When I was in Hawaii, there was an unusual amount of locals with body art. Love loved seeing what inspires people to get permanant artwork on their bodies. Also in Hawaii, I realized where I felt most in my element. Being surrounded by water is when I feel the most calm and at peace with myself. I love running or walking along it, watching the sun set into it, and being out on the water is the greatest feeling in the world!!
and..after all, I am a water bearer :)

 Grocery corner.
pure laziness right there
Who needs to actually walk to the grocery store when you can have groceries hand delivered?!
Lots of healthy goodies!!
But seriously. Could they make these fridges ANY smaller?
I like to keep my breads cold so they stay fresh longer but there is no more room :(

Time to work it out: Chest and Shoulders

How far I've come

My new shoes took me on a short journey to the gym
these shoes are so light and comfortable to run in
Nike, you're the best! I love your shoes, workout clothing, and accessories. I love it ALL! If only I could afford everything I want :( sad face.
These shoes are designed for "trail running" but I don't see a lot of these around me.
Oh rolling trails, where art thou.
My gym commute there and back is under 2 miles. I've run in some crappy weather conditions already from windy to rainy, to freezing cold. I've got my fingers crossed for a mild winter season!!

Workout agenda this morning: LEGS
3 sets of 15 reps on each exercise
  • Ballet squat
  • Dumbbell lunge
  • Barbell Squat
  • Stiff legged deadlift
  • Assisted dumbbell lunge
  • calf raises
  • Abductor machine
  • Adductor machine
  • Leg press
I felt so much personal satisfaction today from holding my own in the weights room full of jacked men (I was the only girl in the room!!). The shy voice inside my head was screaming "leave this place immediately!!" but I fought the urge to run and hide. Definitely the right choice. I think the key is knowing your workouts in advance, finding a clear space to do your workouts, and staying focused on the task at hand. There are definite benefits to a weight room. One major bonus is that there are mirrors everywhere so you can work on your form. Also, free weights are a good way to vary your routine from the standard strength training equipment. It's true what they say, variety is the spice of life!

Post workout protein shake:

handful of fruits
half a banana, ice, cup of soy milk
thickness shot!
crunchalicious
Breakfast this morning: More of the same and yadda yadda yadda

Happy news of the day: ARFIE is finally flying home on Sunday.
