Finding Nemo

Dinner tonight was at Toro sushi. Hands down the best sushi in Chicago. At least in my opinion ;)

Agadashi tofu- sweet n salty broth with fried tofu
Scallops as big as your face and super white tuna. Everything tasted super fresh.
The Big Tex- You could say this roll was as big as the state of Texas. It fell apart on me though. I would have used my fingers if I wasn't with company
The Best of Both Worlds- Don't ask me what was in it because I already forgot! I was too busy stuffing my face. Big surprise
BYOB. I stopped drinking Riesling because I thought I didn't like sweeter wines but I was reminded tonight how good  Riesling can be. Mmm... thank you Napa Valley
Salmon and Hamachi
My first Vitamix smoothie: Almond Vanilla Breeze, strawberries (I blended the whole strawberry including the stems), ff yogurt, vanilla extract, stevia drops, and a couple handfuls of ice. For toppings I used dark choco chips, raisins, and  almond slices. Yummy!!

I didn't think this was smoothie itself was sweet enough but the toppings definitely helped.  We didn't have any other fruits in the fridge. I like the sweetness I get from bananas. This reminds me- time for a trip to the grocery store!!

I have a four hour spa day tomorrow. That seems unheard of, at least in my world. Facial, Massage, and Mani/Pedi. I don't know what I'm going to do with myself. I have a feeling I'll figure it out.

Sweet dreams.

VITAMIX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My baby is here!!!!! Tarek surprised me with a lovely anniversary/wedding gift today. Check out the beauty. I have never been this excited about a kitchen gadget. What is wrong with me!!
Decisions decisions. What to make first!?!?
HOLY CRAP... SO. FLIPPIN. EXCITED. I would make something right now but I must go get in a quick workout!

Catching up

Dad made shabu shabu last night
Ice cream cake from Baskin Robbins
Happy early Birthday momma!!

I needed this after the huge meal last night.
Lunch:
This salad was awesome. Candied pecans rocks my socks off!
Goat cheese appetizer with crusty chewy bread to dip.
Now that's a big pizza. I had three slices and was pretty stuffed..or maybe I was secretly holding out for dessert.

Prepare yourself for the greatest invention since sliced bread......Self serve frozen yogurt!!!!! Holy crap. I never knew this existed in Chicago.
Come to momma!!!
Look at how many flavors you can choose from. They also offer free samples. I tried the pistachio and didn't end up getting it.
Toppings bar
Honestly, how does one choose from so many options?
FroYO: cake batter, red velvet and reeses peanut butter. Toppings: sprinkles, cookie dough, pecans, crumbled graham crackers
I will definitely be making a repeat stop here before I go back to London. Snog's got nothing on this bad boy.

Dinner: Las Palmas (upscale Mexican in Bucktown)

Chips n' salsa!!

Brunch at Sweets n Savories.

I love the dining scene in Chicago. Sort of torn between London and Chicago. Aww what the heck. My heart still belongs to the Windy City!! We split all the above in three. I had a bite of each. The cinnamon roll was my favorite. So delicious w. a cup of joe!
Sweet potato bisque. Creamy, warm, soul satisfying.
Lobster hash with warm soft potatoes, poached eggs, and a lovely light hollandaise sauce. I finished my plate!
